Arithmetics of eating
March 30, 2009When food was hard to come by, and bland, dining was about eating pure and eating to live. Modern food is packed with calories, but the same principle still applies. Eat, eat, eat. The regular citizen will eat breakfast between seven and eight, lunch between eleven to one, then once more after work, in the cinema, sitting in front of the TV, the net. The kids will eat in the back of the car, people will push snacks into their mouths on the subway, etc.
The culture of health has become the culture of restraint.
