Ours is the fury

There’s a name for the winners in this world

What should have been a brief essay on why exactly it  is that I find functionalism such a debasing and human-loathing structure turned into a comparison of polish and american movie posters (call it overreaching to find art trends that support your view). Nevertheless, Polish poster art has always been a very different ballgame. Working around the concept of the movie, a stray scene capturing some of the very essence of it rather than a flawless re-rendering of the main cast – is one of the cornerstones of polish movie poster art.

Modern postermaking has turned into a masturbatory display in the use of Photoshop, Maya and other rendering tools. Below are some refreshing examples of artists capturing a fleeting, defining, moment in a style seeming aloof yet so accurate to form and concept.

And as to any functionalist purgatory of human degradation, I’ll return to the matter.
